Inetd port checker on RHEL
Create the inetd capable script,
vi /root/scinetd.ksh
like,
#!/bin/ksh
while read input; do
echo "$HOSTNAME: $input"
logger "$HOSTNAME: $input"
done
Configure the scinetd service,
vi /etc/xinetd.d/scinetd
like,
service scinetd
{
disable = no
socket_type = stream
wait = no
user = root
server = /root/scinetd.ksh
log_on_failure += USERID
}
Define the port for the scinetd service,
vi /etc/services
like,
scinetd 990/tcp
Note. "990/udp" works too.
