Miranda-IM configuration
 
Install Miranda-IM (http://www.miranda-im.org/download/).
 
First launch starts the wizard. Create a profile e.g.,
profile0
 
Configure accounts e.g.,
Miranda > Accounts...
New account (+)
account name : msn0
protocol : MSN
select the account and define its connection parameters
Note. for MSN, check your email/password at https://login.live.com/
Note. for IRC, eventually use same Nick and User ID
 
Setup your avatar,
Miranda > View/change my details
Avatar > accountname > Set
 
Configure Miranda,
Miranda > Options
check Show expert options (at the bottom left)
 
choose <core modules> on the upper right select menu
Customize > Accounts > verify accounts
Status > Messages > Online : Do not reply to requests for this message
Status > Messages > Away : Do not reply to requests for this message
Status > Messages > ... : Do not reply to requests for this message
 
choose Send/receive messages on the upper right select menu
Message sessions > Messaging tab > uncheck Limit avatar height
 
choose Classic contact list on the upper right select menu
Contact list > select Sort contacts by protocol
Contact list > General tab > single click interface
#Contact list > Show multiple icons
#Contact list > uncheck "Only when statuses differ"
 
Configure Protocols,
choose e.g. MSN protocol on the upper right select menu
Network > accountname > Account tab > LiveID, password and nickname
Note. you need to be connected to update your MSN nickname
 
choose e.g. IRC protocol on the upper right select menu
Network > accountname > Account tab > verify nickname, full name and user ID
Network > accountname > Account tab > verify the "Enable" box is checked
Network > accountname > DCC’nCTCP tab > User information : ...
Network > accountname > Advanced tab > Perform / check Enable
Network > accountname > Advanced tab > Perform / /join #channel /msg nickserv identify PASSWORD (+)
Network > accountname > Advanced tab > Other / Quit message : ...
Network > accountname > Advanced tab > Other / Server code page : Default ANSI codepage
Network > accountname > Advanced tab > uncheck “Enable UTF8 autodetection”
 
Install some addons (http://addons.miranda-im.org/),
My Details
CList Nicer+ (Unicode)
Facebook Protocol
note. unicode on Windows XP
other possible addons,

Configure My Details addon,
choose My Details on the upper right select menu
My Details > uncheck Cycle through protocols every 5 seconds
My Details > check Align text to right
My Details > uncheck Round corners of avatars
My Details > check Show protocol cycle button
 
Configure CList Nicer+ (Unicode) addon,
choose CList Nicer+ (Unicode) on the upper right select menu
Contact List > General tab > Hide offline users
Contact List > General tab > uncheck Show button bar
Contact List > General tab > uncheck Show menu and status buttons
Contact List > General tab > uncheck Draw sunken edge
Contact List > General tab > single click interface
Contact List > Window tab > Always on top
Contact List > Display profiles > Contacts tab > First by : Protocol
Contact List > Display profiles > Contacts tab > Then by : Name
Contact List > Display profiles > Advanced tab > check Show avatars
Contact List > Display profiles > Advanced tab > Show avatars height : 60
Contact List > Display profiles > Advanced tab > Always align icons and text for missing avatars
 
Further clean up the window,
Miranda > Frames > Event area > uncheck Visible
Miranda > Frames > View modes > uncheck Visible
 
Configure Facebook Protocol,
Miranda > Accounts...
create new account (+)
configure the account
