Configuration
You need a free disk or a free partition. For example,
lvcreate -v -L 2G -n lv_ASM VolGroup00
ll /dev/mapper
chown oracle:dba /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-lv_ASM
 
Quote. Creating an ASM instance in its own Oracle home is recommended, and has the advantage of enabling more than one Oracle database to use the ASM disk groups.
 
As "root" user,
source ~oracle/.bashrc
cd $ORACLE_HOME
bin/localconfig add
verify,
ll /etc/init.d/init.cssd
 
Back to "oracle" user, create the ASM instance,
dbca
Operations,
Configure Automatic Storage Management
Create ASM Instance,
new PASSWORD
ASM Disk Groups,
Create New
Create Disk Group > Disk Group Name : ASMGRP
Create Disk Group > Redundancy : External
Create Disk Group > Select Member Disks > Change Discovery Path > /dev/mapper
Create Disk Group > check the LV
Mount
 
Check for changes
cat /etc/oratab
ll $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/spfile+ASM.ora
